TALK is an open-membership association for the technology community in and around Louisville. The organization’s goals include:

Talent Identification: Provide an organizational structure to identify and support the technology talent in Louisville as a way to attract new technology companies and jobs.

Advocate for Technology: Support policies and public relations activities that help drive the priorities of technology companies and organizations in Louisville.

Local Networking: Provide high-quality opportunities for networking, events and forums to effectively connect the Louisville technology community.

Knowledge Delivery: Develop content-rich programs and news delivery that inspire and inform the Louisville technology community to support continued growth and development.

The association invites membership from other technology-based groups and individuals working in technology fields, as well as all levels of corporate membership, from startups to large enterprises.  At this time, there is no cost for participating in key events and membership signup is encouraged at talklou.com to receive the association benefits, which include promotion of community tech events, dissemination of other technology-centric company or organization news, job leads and networking online connections.  Additionally, clusters are encouraged to form around special interests for smaller group educational and mindshare gatherings about town. The first clusters are anticipated in ecommerce, big data, healthcare IT and mobility, for example.

On March 5, TALK will host national speaker Tomas Byrnes, CEO of Threatstop, who will explore the evolution of cybercrime over the past year and the three key cyber security threats you should pay attention to in 2013.

There will also be a presentation on a local real-world case study on “Saving Money with VMWare Using Terminal Services.” Matt Mercurio of Strothman Technology Solutions will review the recent implementation his firm delivered for a Louisville-area client. His talk will cover converting or building your environment with VMWare, gaining return on investment on maintenance and the cost of ownership.

There will be a cash bar and complimentary appetizers, sponsored by GLI’s Enterprise Corp.

TALK’s founding officers include:  Co-Chair Debbie Davidson, process engineer, Humana; Co-Chair Dawn Yankeelov, founder of Aspectx; Vice-President Norm Schippert, founder of Bluegrass.Net; and Secretary-Treasurer Suhas Kulkarni, director, Mayor’s Office for Globalization.
